§ Warm-up Quiz

Q) Where should I go before I leave Japan? Where do you recommend?
A) How about Kamakura? It’s famous for its huge statue of Buddha.

 

Oh, hi. Do you remember me? Didn’t I meet you on the bullet train?
★ Of course, I remember you. Hi, how do you like Japan so far?
What a coincidence! Well, I’m really enjoying Japan.
★ Glad to hear that.
I love the cuisine and I liked visiting the temples and shrines the best, but I’m gonna leave in two days.
★ Oh, I’m so glad you enjoyed Japan.
Actually, I want to go to one more city in Japan. Where should I go before I leave Japan? Where do you recommend?
★ How about Kamakura? It’s near Tokyo. It’s famous for its huge statue of Buddha.
I’ll check it out on my computer later in my hotel room. Oh, we might as well take a picture together.
★ Sure. We might as well.
Let’s get the train station in the background.
★ Good idea. Say Nippon.

Oh, hi. Do you remember me? Didn’t I meet you on the bullet train?
★ Of course, I remember you. Hi, how do you like Japan so far?
What a coincidence! Wow! I’m really enjoying Japan.
★ Glad to hear that.
I love the cuisine and I liked visiting the temples and shrines the best. But I’m gonna leave in two days.
★ Oh, where are you going next?
Well, actually, I wanna go to one more city in Japan. Where should I go before I leave Japan? Where do you recommend?
★ How about Nagoya? It’s a nice city with a wonderful castle.
I see. What food do you recommend there?
★ There’s a lot of good cuisine there. I like a dish called Misokatsu. It’s a pork dish with a delicious sauce.
And what do you think is the best hot spring to visit in all of Japan?
★ That’s a difficult question. Personally I like the hot springs in a place called Kyusyu.
I’ll check it out my computer later in my hotel room. Oh, we might as well take a picture together.
★ Sure. We might as well.

a place called Kyusyu

日本のものを紹介するのに called を使うといいよ!!とスティーブ先生。

言われてみるとその通りですね。

英語の中に聞きなれない地名や人名が入っていると、リスニングが難しく感じることが私にもありますから、a place called 〇〇 や a dish called 〇〇 だと相手に伝わりやすくなりそうです。

★ それは難しい質問ですね。個人的には九州と呼ばれる場所にある温泉が好きです.
